Job Description for
Central Philadelphia Friends Meeting’s (CPFM)
Youth Program Coordinator (YPC)
The Youth Program Coordinator will develop curriculum for religious education and offer First Day School (FDS) programming twice a month (usually on the first and third Sundays) for youth ranging in age from 4 to 12. Note: participant ages may vary from week to week. The YPC must have the ability to flex to the needs of the group during each FDS program.
YPC Goals:
1. Nurture the spiritual development of CPFM youth through FDS programming.
2. Foster CPFM youth’s sense of community and joy.
3. Grow CPFM youth’s understanding of what it means/how to listen for Spirit.
4. Grow CPFM youth’s understanding of Quaker testimonies.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop curriculum for elementary-aged children.
2. Lead youth programs twice a month from 11 a.m. to noon.
a. Arrive at CPFM by 10:45 a.m. and remain until children are in their parents’ care, around 12:15 p.m.
3. Create a description of program offerings to be placed in the weekly bulletin.
4. Attend and participate in Youth Religious Education Committee (YREC) meetings
a. Meetings are currently held on the first Sunday of the month at 7 p.m.
5. Be a voice and advocate for CPFM’s youth and families.
a. Encourage youth and families to feel safe, welcomed, and included in the life of
CPFM.
b. Bring suggestions to YREC.
6. Purchase supplies needed for programs.
7. Submit receipts for reimbursement to the Meeting office for any purchases related to providing a FDS program.
8. Submit hours to the Meeting office for payroll.
This is an employee position. Pay starts at $25 an hour.
