Welcome Families & Children

A Glimpse into Central Philadelphia Quaker Meeting's Sunday school

During worship and other activities, we offer childcare for our youngest attenders ( ages 0 to 4 ) every Sunday, and programming for children aged ( 5 to 12 ) on first and third Sundays of the month.

Parents are invited to share in worship, without expectation. Every first and third Sunday, we offer "First Day School", akin to "Sunday School," weaving age-appropriate lessons infused with Quaker values.

Joined by a paid caregiver and devoted adults, they embark on a worshipful journey of play, a sacred expression of their innocent spirits.

In this sacred space, simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship guide our young Quakers. Our commitment to their safety is enshrined in a downloadable policy. Join us on this Quaker-guided journey of spiritual nurture and community embrace.

A Sacred Expression of Innocent Spirits

In this sacred space, the vibrant energy of our children intertwines with the serenity of worship. It's a place where laughter is a hymn, and play is a prayer. Together, they engage in a worshipful journey that reflects the purity of their innocent spirits. It's a time for them to connect with each other, with the Divine, and with the Quaker values that shape our community.

First Day School: A Quaker Tradition

Every third Sunday, our "First Day School" unfolds, a Quaker equivalent to the more commonly known "Sunday School." Parents are invited to bask in the divine silence of the main worship while our young Quakers engage in age-appropriate lessons infused with Quaker values. This intentional separation allows both children and adults to delve into their worship experiences with undivided focus.

Guiding Principles: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship

In Room 136, the foundational Quaker principles of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship serve as guiding stars for our young Quakers. Through engaging activities and thoughtful lessons, we nurture a sense of spiritual responsibility and connection with these values that form the bedrock of our Quaker community.

Safety, Our Utmost Priority

The safety and well-being of our children are paramount. Our commitment to their protection is enshrined in a downloadable policy that outlines the measures we take to create a secure environment for their spiritual growth and play.

We extend an invitation to parents, caregivers, and all community members to join us on this Quaker-guided journey of spiritual nurture and community embrace.
